Notice of Collection of Information (FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS ONLY)

If you are a California resident, starting January 1, 2020, you have a right to notice of our collection of “personal information,” as such term is defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, Civil Code §1798.100 et seq. (the “CCPA”). This notice provides information regarding our collection of personal information. All terms used in this notice are as defined in the CCPA or applicable regulations thereunder.
Subject to certain exceptions and limitations, personal information is any information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular California resident or household. The categories of personal information that we collect and the description of each of those categories are set forth in the table below:

Identifiers | Identifiers may include, without limitation, name, signature, social security number, physical characteristics or description, address, telephone number, email address, online identifier, Internet protocol address, passport number, driver’s license or state identification card number, insurance policy number, employment, employment history, bank account number, credit card number, debit card number or any other financial information, medical information or health insurance information. |
Characteristics of Protected Classifications | Characteristics of protected classifications may include, without limitation, race, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, military or veteran status or disability. |
Commercial Information | Commercial information may include, without limitation, records of personal property, products or services purchased, obtained or considered, or other purchasing or consumer history or tendencies. |
Biometric Information | Biometric information may include, without limitation, physiological, biological or behavioral characteristics to establish an individual’s identity. Such information includes, but is not limited to, images of the retina, fingerprint, face, hand and voice recordings, keystroke patterns, or sleep, health or exercise data containing identifying information. |
Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information | Internet or other electronic network activity information may include, without limitation, browsing history, search history or information regarding interaction with an Internet website, application or advertisement. |
Geolocation Data | Geolocation data may include, without limitation, current and historical physical location including the country, state, city, zip code, address and/or location over time. |
Audio, Electronic, Visual, Thermal, Olfactory or Similar Information | Audio, electronic, visual, thermal, olfactory or similar information may include, without limitation, recordings of customer service calls, images recorded on security cameras, or videos or photos provided by a consumer. |
Professional or Employment-Related Information | Professional or employment-related information may include, without limitation, current and past employers or professional associations, industry and income. |
Education Information | Education information may include, without limitation, education history and field(s) of study. |
Inferences | Inferences drawn from other personal information described herein to create a profile about a consumer reflecting the consumer’s preferences, characteristics, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities and aptitudes. |
The business or commercial purposes for which we collect and use each of the categories of personal information identified above include:
- Performing services, including evaluating your application for an apartment, maintaining or servicing accounts, providing customer service, processing or fulfilling transactions, verifying your information, processing payments, providing advertising or marketing services, providing analytics services, or providing similar services;
- Auditing related to a current interaction with you and concurrent transactions;
- Short-term, transient use;
- Detecting security incidents, protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, and prosecuting those responsible for that activity;
- Debugging to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality;
- Undertaking internal research for technological development and demonstration; and
- Undertaking activities to verify or maintain the quality or safety of a service or device that is owned, manufactured, manufactured for or controlled by us, and to improve, upgrade or enhance the service or device that is owned, manufactured, manufactured for or controlled by us.
In addition, we collect and use these categories of personal information in order to provide and share such information with select service providers and third parties (such as property managers, payment processors and financial institutions to process payments, vendors that provide credit checks or recommendations on whether you qualify to rent an apartment, identity verification or background check providers and data analytics providers) for our or for such service provider’s or third party’s business or commercial purposes.
